The kids didn't understand why I stopped the car for this picture. I was DYING!
That is the best sign ever! What a hoot. Makes you wonder how they ever came up with that...maybe a couple of guys, having a little too much to drink, think it up and pull out the pocket dictionary for a direct translation without consulting someone who actually speaks english! Do you think they're thinking about salavating when you see or smell good food?!!

ReplyDeleteI hope that there are still plenty of signs like this in China. A while back, I think the government brought in professional translation agencies to correct the signs but personally, I think it was a massive overreaction. Don't get me wrong, some signs really did need to be corrected but I think a balanced approach would have been better. Personally, I'd prefer to see this:
"Tender, fragrant grass. How hard-hearted to trample."
...rather than "Keep off the grass."
